How to recognize a spoof/phishing email

It’s important to stay vigilant against spoof (fake) emails that may request account details, access credentials, or personal information from you. To ensure that an email is legitimate and truly from Sky Link Hostings, always verify that it comes from an official @skylinkhostings.com email address.

If you suspect the email is not from us, here’s how to identify phishing or spoofed emails:

  1. Suspicious Email Address: Fraudsters often use fake email addresses to appear legitimate. Keep in mind that the ‘From’ field in emails can be easily manipulated and should not be trusted as proof of authenticity. Ensure the email is from @skylinkhostings.com or hover over the sender’s name to check the actual email address.

  2. Generic Greetings: Fraudulent emails usually start with impersonal greetings such as ‘Dear Customer’ or ‘Dear User’. At Sky Link Hostings, we address you by name— for example, ‘Dear John’. Additionally, emails from our Legal & Abuse Team follow a specific format and will come from abuse@skylinkhostings.com.

  3. Urgent Requests for Personal Information: Scammers often claim that your account is at risk or suspended, urging you to provide sensitive information such as usernames, support PINs, passwords, or credit card details. While Sky Link Hostings may occasionally ask for account information, we will never request your full password or complete credit card details via email, nor will we send login forms in an email.

  4. Fake URLs: Phishing emails often include links to fake websites designed to steal your information. Always inspect links carefully, looking for any unusual letters or symbols. If we need information from you, Sky Link Hostings will direct you to our secure website for submission.

  5. Fake Feedback Forms: Fraudulent emails may invite you to complete feedback forms or click on links that mimic our official forms. Sky Link Hostings will never ask you to fill out forms through email requesting sensitive information like Member ID, passwords, or payment details.

If you’re unsure whether an email is legitimate or believe you may have fallen victim to phishing, please contact our Legal & Abuse Team at abuse@skylinkhostings.com. As a precaution, sign in to your account, change your password, and enable Two-Factor Authentication for added security.
